Strike! The deafening cheer of the MDM 2017 class followed as Jaruwan “Jaa” Yimhin, fellow student, hit her first-ever strike. The event was Bowling Night held at Metro Club last June 3. The cheers came from both Jaa’s teammates and surprisingly the competition. Despite a night of heated exchange, team vs. team, the MDM class collectively recognized a triumph. It went, as Harry Baliaga noticed, “beyond simply winning the game.” It was more about winning each other’s hearts.
There was a sense of unity and camaraderie that was right for the occasion. “It was fun and was a great bonding experience,” said Trijunie Ekaputra. The class got to know each other better. Pem Dechen pointed out that while “bowling was fun and challenging. All could participate equally.” Anna Abelinde summarized it by saying, “The bowling activity provided us with a more relaxed, albeit competitive atmosphere in our learning teams.”
As the students circled around Jaa in congratulatory spirit, one got a sense of a widening perspective. The new environment allowed classmate to see classmate beyond the four corners of the case room. The night went on in that way. And eventually LT2 became the night’s bowling champions. They received a trophy for their effort and teamwork. There was genuine happiness for each other’s achievements.
Fun Fellowship Fridays
Picking up from the success of that night, the class officers, headed by the newly-elected president, Crystal Anievas, continue with the same spirit of camaraderie with Fun Fellowship Fridays, a weekly bonding activity to promote unity in the MDM batch. Each LT will host an activity for the MDM batch every Friday starting on the first week of July.
Week 3’s theme will be “Pool party.” That’s later this week.
