“From the start, I thought I wouldn’t be able to handle the work. There were a lot going on. I had to assist people. I had to screen and receive them. I didn’t know which local numbers to transfer calls to. It seemed so difficult and I wanted to give up. But then I figured that I would learn it all along the way. Anything can be done if you really want to learn. As a lady guard, sometimes people look down on you. You’ll encounter people who will say, “You’re just a guard.” It hurts. Thankfully, now I can do everything even with my eyes closed. Haha! I go to work with a smile on my face. It has become easier and I enjoy every part of it.”

Sheriyll Doctolero is a guard at Asian Institute of Management
