The countdown to b-school has begun. Here are a few tips for the international students on what should you pack for your exciting journey at AIM.
- Clothes & Shoes:
Attire in AIM for most occasions is smart casual. We can also wear jeans and t-shirts to class. We dress up in business attire for key presentations and job interviews. There are some networking events where the dress code is business casual. We have an annual Halloween event. Hence you may want to carry a costume for that. Lastly, we flaunt our national costume on events such as Cultural Night and Graduation.
- Smart Casuals: many
- Business Casuals: few
- Business: 1 or 2 sets
- National Costume: 1 or 2 sets
- Swimming Costume
- Casual shoes
- Formal shoes
- Sport shoes
- Slippers
- Bags:
Since we are in a school, most of us have backpacks to carry our notebooks and laptop.
For girls, you may want to carry a sling or purse for parties.
- Laundry Basket:
I personally faced an issue finding this here in Makati, so you might want to keep this in your list.
- Stationary:
Stationary is a little expensive in Makati. You may want to get some basic stationary such as notebooks, highlighters, pens, pencils, eraser and so on.
- Food items:
For Indian students, if you are a Maggi fan, you may want to pack some. I personally got some biscuit packets and Knorr soup packets. Tea lovers, please get your stock of Masala Chai. Also, you may want to pack your preferred jam & sandwich spreads.
Other items like cornflakes, coffee are available here in Makati.
- Medicines:
Medicines can be expensive in the Philippines. So, you can carry basic over-the-counter drugs. I carried the below:
- Relispray
- Volini ointment
- cough syrup
- band-aid
- crepe bandage
- tablets for:
- loose motion
- indigestion
- fever
- body pain
- cold
- stomach ache
- vomiting
- acidity
- antibiotics for cold
I strongly recommend carrying Vitamin C and Multi Vitamin tablets as well.
- Toiletries:
You may carry basic toiletries or skip it if you don’t have space. All toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste, body lotion, shower gel, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc are readily available here at a reasonable price. If you use talcum powder, please carry that as it not very easily available here.
- Beauty products (for girls):
If you are used to a hair straightener or hair dryer, please carry the same. For other products, refer to our other article on Parlour services.
If you are staying at the AIM dormitory, you will be provided bedsheets, blankets and pillows. So you do not need to carry them.
Apart from few things, most of things above are available for purchase in and around AIM. We also have Indian stores near the college. The only difference may be the prices.
This is just a suggestive list. If you still have clarifications, please feel free to contact us.
